~ Felt Connected ~
Sometimes you have days that just flow. You don’t have to work, the sun is shining, it smells like spring and you find yourself in one of the nicest cities of this little country, the city where you are about to go and live: Haarlem. Last week me and little V. were just wandering around the little streets and stumbled (not quite accidentally I must add) upon Sjakies, one of the most adventurous shops of Haarlem and indeed of the whole of the Netherlands. I love this shop and they are about to open a second one (!). You always have a shortage of eyes (a Dutch expression: “je komt ogen tekort”) when you go there, they sell a variety of nice things, from quality rugs, to pottery, jewellery and even masking tape. When I was browsing I came across these little felt animals, so cute! They were about to be shipped to the new Sjakie store, where they are planning to sell kids stuff. Aren’t these felt creatures the cutest?
As it turned out they are designed by Laurien Mulder and are part of a fairtrade project in Kathmandu (Nepal) called Felt Connected. Little V. couldn’t stop smiling when I showed him the little felt piglet or is it a little fawn? I just had to buy one for him!

We are very happy indeed to have welcomed this new family member all the way from Nepal. He is already making some new friends!
